Our history

Ovations was established in 1998 and has enjoyed substantial controlled growth over the past 10 years. Some of our milestones include the following:  

1998

• Ovations is formed out of Symmetry and focuses on workflow, document management, imaging and reporting solutions for the enterprise thus bringing people, processes and information together.
• In our first year, we implement a large-scale Proof of Delivery workflow, imaging and MIS solution for Transnet PX.

1999

• Ovations completes an intranet based GIS, DMS and MIS system for Rand Water and commences work on listings workflow, DMS, imaging and MIS at the JSE Securities Exchange News Services (SENS).
• We become a Microsoft partner and a FileNet certified implementation partner.

2000

• Ovations carries out a FileNet implementation for Standard Bank International Banking Centres, Standard Bank XMAN and Standard Bank Unit Trusts.

2001

• We receive contracts for projects with existing and new clients including Action Aids, JSE SENS II, Mutual & Federal, and SCMB International Banking Centres.
• We start developing our work management framework, OvaFlo.

2002

• Ovations implements major projects at SA Eagle, Cell C and Discovery Health.

2003

• Work on new and existing projects moves ahead for clients such as Mutual & Federal, SA Eagle, Barclays Africa, Sasol, Standard Bank, Konkola Copper Mine of Zambia and Tongaat Food Distributors.
• OvaFlo v3.1 is developed and the product goes international through a reseller agreement in Dubai.

2004

• OvaFlo v3.2 goes live.
• We sign a black economic empowerment deal with the Kunene Brothers and the National Women's Association (NAWA).

2005

• Ovations becomes a Tibco certified implementation partner.
• We experience significant internal change and growth as we conduct our biggest recruitment drive yet.
• We launch new Risk and Governance Divisions, as well as our Ovations US office.
• We complete the transition from pure product shop to consulting house.

2006

• Ovations introduces a fresh corporate identity.
• We launch a new People Capital Management division.
• We become a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner.
• Work commences or continues for clients including Absa, Zurich Isle of Man, Sanlam, Santam, the National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC), Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF), Mutual & Federal and Barclays.

2007

• Three key projects go live: a BPM project at Mutual & Federal, a BPM rollout at Zurich SA, and a project at Absa Home Loans.
• We appoint Agility + as an OvaFlo reseller in the US.
• Thys Bruwer is appointed MD.

2008

• We implement a Document Management system for a leading short term insurer using FileNet ECM, BPM and OvaFlo.
• Our IBM FileNet skills receive a massive boost as we undertake the single largest FileNet certification effort for one company ever done in South Africa.
• We implement an ECM and BPM solution for Standard Bank Retail in their vehicle asset finance division.
• Ovations is selected as the winner of the BPM Congress Excellence Award at the 5th Annual BPM Congress

2009

• Ovations acquires 51% of Agility Supply Chain Associates and PlanForge as part of expansion initiative.
• Ovations embarked on a strategic growth initiative by fully acquiring enterprise middleware solutions provider CrossStream Systems.
• Ovations entered into a full partnership agreement with Adobe Systems Inc, one of the world's biggest and most diversified software companies.
• OvaFlo v4 is launched.
• We signed a partnership agreement with Axios Systems, the world's leading provider of IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions.
• Ovations is selected as the winner of the Grand Prix Award for BPM Excellence at the Business Process Management Excellence Awards.

 2010

• Started a Large Scale ECM and BPM implementation project with ABSA Business Bank
• Awarded Supplier Status for Enterprise Architecture at the South African Reserve Bank
• Started a Consulting Engagement with Investec
• Launched the Ovations Academy
• ABSA Business Bank (ABB) becomes the first OvaFlo 4 customer in South Africa
• Engaged with the SOA Governance Programme at Standard Bank (Consulting and Change Management)
• We renew a 3 year combined maintenance and advisory services agreement with Mutual and Federal
• We complete the first Implementation of IBM ILOG Business Rules Management system in South Africa
• At Zurich Project Safari goes live - We Implement a new workflow and transform entire business process in record time.

• Started Strategic Business and Application Architecture Project with Investec
• We Deliver Project Bermuda, A Joint Claims Management Project with Standard Bank and Zurich
